As an organic company, this month we usually like to promote Organic Your September. However, this year, given the vast changes and impact of various global issues, we are going to talk about something with a much wider value: Impact.
What is Impact?
When we see that word, we can interpret it in many different ways; the Impact a decision has on you; the Impact your decisions make on others; the Impact you have in your line of work in society and the world as a whole; and the Impact we make with our decisions environmentally.
To bring about change, real change, and live conscious lives, making decisions that stand for something bigger than ourselves is what we are all about here at Leaves of the World. When we ask the question, what is Impact, what we are really saying is, ‘how can we, as a company, and as individuals, make an Impact on the world.’
That’s a lot to ask of any person; to change the world.
But, collectively, our decisions can influence and change so much more than we realise. We are all having an Impact each and every day. It might not be earth shattering. Big or small, the way we conduct ourselves, and how we put ourselves out into the world has the ability to make real change.
How do you start a giant snowball? One flake of snow at a time.
And so, with that in mind, what we would like to propose is a self-audit.
How much Impact do you make? What do you want to change about the world, or starting smaller, in your community, or school, or workplace? How could you make an Impact?
And the first thing we all have to address when considering this is ourselves.
To change the external world, we first have to address our internal worldview. What we see out in the world is a version of the story we tell ourselves each and every day.
So, to ask it simply, what could you do each day to make a small Impact on yourself?
Could you eat better? Exercise more? Take some time for yourself with a book, or take yourself on a food date riding solo? How can you start being more conscious about your choices, to give yourself the best opportunity to make as much Impact as possible?
We rise by lifting others. But to do that, we have got to put our best foot forward. We can only make a difference if we are willing to be truthful with ourselves. And this isn’t about being overly critical, or hard on yourself. This is about taking a moment to reset. To ask the bigger questions about WHY what you do matters? Who does it matter to? What difference could you make?
If we all centred our world around making a positive and selfless Impact on those around us, real change wouldn’t be so elusive. Because real change, to make real Impact, all starts from within.
